Subject: RE: Oar Shipped

Hi Jim,

I got back this morning from Camden. A fellow from Air Canada in Boston immediately seemed to recognize my call regarding the oar. It seems to be an odd item, and he was a bit amused when I explained how this all came about. He put me in touch with a "customs broker" who seems to know just what to do to forward the oar on to me here in Nantucket. He said the oar would clear customs later today or on Monday, and he would then ship it to me, probably to arrive here on Tuesday. So, all is well with the oar up to the minute. I will let you know when it is home in Nantucket. Chaos and the P. Ellen are being delivered to me here in Nantucket in the next few days for what should be a happy reunion of the oar and it's lost mate after a long voyage to Nova Scotia and back by different routes.

By the way, I sailed Chaos and the P. Ellen in Seal Bay on the east side of Vinalhaven in Penobscot Bay two days ago. This is a beautiful cove well worth a visit if you happen to be sailing in the vicinity of Vinalhaven, although it must be navigated with great care. The other vessels seemed to be crewed by avid sailors. We all took advantage of a fair wind to sail off the anchor and out of this tight spot in the morning. I could tell everyone enjoyed the opportunity to sail out of Seal Bay without the usually required engine assistance.

Thanks again for all your help.

Regards, Bill Wraith

Subject: Oar Shipped

Hi Bill,

I'm a bit concerned that you may not have got my e-mail of

Tuesday July 6th, indicating that the oar had been shipped Air

Canada Cargo to Boston (waybill # 014-01704894). It should have

arrived by now: they were to telephone you upon arrival. I am sorry

about the hassle of clearing customs, etc. but UPS wasn't viable

due to their size restrictions. Let me know how you make out...

Regards,

Jim Legere
